Mazel Tov Aaron and Cici

Late Wednesday afternoon Cici gave birth to a baby girl. She has the dubious distinction of sharing a hebrew birthday with Tehilah....
Aaron sent out some pics of the youngster with her siblings.
Like I have already mentioned, I am already jealous as the kid has more hair than I do.

Hope all is well in the Windy City and that Pesach preparations come easy for them.

Regards everyone,

My Daily Daf

Since the beginning of the last cycle, I have been keeping the pace....(mostly)
I was turned on to this site and the Rav, Rabbi Shalom Rosner, who gives the daf and then it gets posted to this site DAILY and by 8am.
I listen to it off my Ipod at the end of the day.
It is simply amazing. He gives the shiur in under an hour and speaks out a TON of stuff from off the daf.
Certainly if any of you are doing the daf, I highly recommend him. There are also some other shiurim on the site that are top notch as well.
Check it out.....................enjoy

MacInnis Tributes start pouring in

Here is a link to the tribute page for Al's retirement. Some poignant things to remember and reminisce about revolving one of the all time class act players in the NHL.
To me, Al was always about the wicked slapshot from the blue line. Scary that he racked up over 900 assists at the same time. He was a warrior. His mere presence on the ice to me always signaled the chance that Dan would yelp in his inimitable way "He shoots..........HE SCORES.....!"

Fan memories and tributes.

FOXSports.com - NHL- Gretzky mum about wiretap talks

FOXSports.com - NHL- Gretzky mum about wiretap talks
This whole thing is a horrible blow to the NHL just from a publicity standpoint. No matter whether or not he had any involvement or whether or not any bets were made on hockey. It is just NOT what the league needs now.

Hamas Wins Palestinian Elections

Hamas Wins Elections
If this doesnt scare you, I don't know what will.
This is gonna make life quite different in Israel in the VERY near future.

This is what the President had to say about this
"I don't see how you can be a partner in peace when you advocate the destruction of a country on your platform" or when a party has an armed wing, Bush said. "We will watch very carefully about the formation of the government but I will continue to remind people about what I just said, if your platform is the destruction of Israel, that means you're not interested in peace."
Do we really think that they want to END the violence now that they have even MORE power??

High School Decision

Well, it looks like after alot of back and forth we have decided.

We are going to send to Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim Talmudical Academy next year.

We met with the principal and we were impressed with him immensly. We know alot about the school being that he is a student there already.

I often used to wonder how much thought goes into all these types of decisions, WOW !

Now I just need to rob Ft. Knox to pay for it

Hope all is well in your worlds..

Finally something good at the Savvis Center

One bright star in an otherwise HORRIFIC season so far.
Blues to retire Macinnis' number

Another worthy addition to the honor roll.
At least the stands "Should" be full that night.

Remember the Watanabe's?

Ah the good old days.
Walking to shul Shabbos morning and hearing the sweet sounds of classical music coming from their house.
Why am I bringing this up you ask?
They say "It's a small world".
Last Motzei Shabbos I got another reminder of just how small it is.

I was invited to attend a Melava Malka. My chavrusa was making a siyum on a masechta we learned together and didn't want to be mesayim unless I attended. So I obliged. He asked me during the previous week if I played any musical instruments. I started thinking to myself, "What have I gotten myself into". Nope, I told him. Sorry, the lady with huge knuckles from CASA and her black Russian and cream cheese sandwiches scared me off piano. The guitar lessons from that music store in the loop never lasted. "It's OK" he said, we have some guys coming. One plays a guitar one plays the clarinet.
This was gonna be a siyum to remember. In short, the melava malka was really nice. As I was sitting there during a break in the action, he went around the room and introduced me to everyone. It turns out, I am sitting 2 seats away from a guy who grew up on Berick, went to U City High, jammed with the Watanabe kids, and whose father plays viola in the St Louis Symphony a row behind Haruka Watanabe.
Small World.......Wouldn't wanna paint it.

The High School Dilemna

The time is now upon us. We have to start applying for high school for
Akiva.I know that some of you may be falling off your chairs as you realize how old you must be now.

This is not gonna be easy. There are really two choices for us for the coming year. To keep him in TA or to send him to Ner. There are pros and cons at both schools. We have already discussed this with Akiva and he has made some very valid points about the types of boys and the things they are "in to" at each of the schools.

Credit to the Mrs. on this one, she has honed him into a keen observer and one who is sensitive to what is appropriate conduct and what is not.
This is gonna be a long ardous task of meetings, visitations, and endless hours of discussion to make a choice. To coin a phrase
"We'll keep you posted".

Worst Losing Streak in Franchise History

They have done it again. This is a milestone we can do without. 9 game losing streak, worst in history. Great job boys.
Game Recap
Well if nothing else, at least we are making sure that every subsequent loss is a historical event !

Gotta love those Blues!

One of my vices has always been the Blues.
Every year without fail (I think even during the lockout) they succeed in getting me to pull more hair that I cannot part with, out of my head. Now here we site, 14 games into the season and at 2-9-3 they are almost mathematically out of the playoffs!
Lalime with a 3.99 GAA is gonna get us nowhere fast. Who is Jeff Woywitka anyways. I was almost out of high school before this guy was born. Not that it matters, but I'd prefer to see Sidney Crosby in the "Bluenote" uniform. Well at least there IS hockey this year. I guess as always, we will wait it out and see how they fare towards the middle and end of the season. The only thing good out of being a fan of this team for so long was that when the Cardinals lost the to Houston, I was already used to getting bounced before the final round

Welcome to The Family Zone

I have been thinking for a while about doing this.
There are many of us, all over the place. It might be a great place to keep each other posted on what's going on in life.
Here we can drop by, post thoughts, announcements, even pictures.

So come back often, I hope this idea gets off the ground and we can all benefit from being in touch more often.
Regards,

Manny
